Leaves: to about 13 1/2 in. long, incl. petiole 2 1/4 in., alternate, no stipules; buds at leaf axils somewhat flattened; leaflets odd pinnate, opposite, 7 or 9, largest one at tip (5 1/2 x 3 3/4) almost obcordate, decreasing in size to base, the samples pair (2 1/2 x 1 3/4) oblong, emarginate, petiolules 1/4 to 1/3, spipels 1/3 long, veins (9+- oaurs) of upper side of leaflets somewhat hairy and under side of leaflets hairy. Flowers: in narrow terminal panicles 15 in. long, not pendent but spreading horizontally in same plane as branch. Corolla 1 in. long, light-violet (standard viloet-tinted), smooth; calyx 1/2 in. long, divided half way down with 4 rounded lobes (one slightly 2-lobed), velvety, dull purple-brown; pedicel 1/2 in. long; ovary white silky hairy, stigma smooth, ovules 10, light-green; stamens 10, 1 of t ese free.
